UDM — How It Works Page
How UDM Works
The UDM workflow has three steps — import your data, configure your table, publish with a shortcode — followed by what visitors see and where to look when something does not work.
Import data
UDM works with the data you already have: CSV and XLSX files. The file is uploaded in the WordPress admin, the import preview shows how the columns were read, and after you save, the dataset is stored in WordPress — ready to be published as a table.
Configure your table
Before publishing, each table can be configured. Table settings decide which visitor features are available — search, sorting, filtering and pagination — which columns are displayed, and how the table behaves on smaller screens. The exact settings are listed in the table settings documentation.
Publish with a shortcode
Publishing a table is done with a shortcode. Paste it into any post, page, text widget or Elementor shortcode widget — the id in the shortcode selects which saved dataset to display.
The shortcode reference in the documentation covers parameters and placement details.
Visitors interact with the data
A published table is interactive on the visitor side: search, sorting, filtering and pagination happen in the browser, on the page itself. The dataset behind the table stays managed in the WordPress admin.
Get unstuck
If an import fails, a table looks wrong or a shortcode does not render, start with the documentation: each step of the workflow is described in detail, and the troubleshooting guide lists common causes and fixes.
